- Mobility Tour Workshop 1 – City Link Transit: Saturday, April 5th, 10-11:30a. Learn about and tour Citylink Access Paratransit (CAP) that provides a curb-to-curb transportation service for residents with disabilities. This service allows individuals to travel for free to their destinations within the city limits of Edmond using wheelchair-accessible buses. CAP is available from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Saturday. It operates exclusively within Edmond city limits and within three-quarters of a mile from a Citylink fixed route, with the exception of the 100X Expresslink.
- Mobility Tour Workshop 2 – Community Pedestrian Audit by MRT: Saturday, April 5th, 11:30a-12:30p. Missourians for Responsible Transportation [MRT]will conduct a walk audit in the area surrounding the conference center, potentially along a transit route. As defined by AARP, “A walk audit is an activity in which participants observe and evaluate the walkability of a location to identify and document if and how pedestrians can safely travel along a street, navigate an intersection, and get from Point A to B and C, and so on.” Our goal is to utilize Edmond’s local built environment to showcase the transportation challenges faced by vulnerable road users when accessing everyday destinations. Through the walk audit, we aim to guide participants in understanding the process and demonstrate how these audits can highlight and improve conditions for vulnerable road users. Additionally, we will discuss the broader implications of car-centric planning and urban sprawl from the perspective of these users, fostering engaging conversations throughout the walk. MRT will provide necessary materials for the walk audit at the event center, including clipboards, printouts, high-visibility vests, and any other required items. **Prior to the event, we will review the route using Google Maps to ensure accessibility and will also conduct an on-site visit in Edmond to guarantee the safety of all participants during the walk.
- Mobility Tour Workshop 3 – EMBARK (Public Transit for Oklahoma City): Tuesday, April 8th, 9:00a-12:00p. Join us for an engaging workshop led by EMBARK, the key entity responsible for planning, constructing, maintaining, and operating multimodal passenger transportation systems and downtown parking facilities in Greater Oklahoma City. This session will delve into EMBARK’s mission to provide a safe and affordable public transit network, highlighting their innovative approaches to fostering relationships and developing public/private partnerships within the community. Learn how similar strategies can be applied in your own communities!
